What license does my project need?
Your project needs an OSI-approved open source license or a Creative Commons license. If you’re not sure whether yours qualifies, the OSI maintains a full list at opensource.org/licenses.
Are there any conduct requirements?
Yes — your repository needs a Code of Conduct. This is standard practice for healthy open source projects and a requirement to maintain your plan.
Do I need to display anything on my site?
We ask that you include a link back to Netlify on your site. We have premade badges ready if you need one.
Can I use the Open Source plan for a commercial project?
The Open Source plan is for non-commercial projects only. If your project has a commercial focus, take a look at our standard plans instead.
What kinds of sites are a good fit?
Documentation sites, changelogs, issue trackers, team blogs — anything directly tied to an open source project and its community. If it serves your contributors and users, it qualifies.
What happens if I use all my credits?
Your site stays live. Additional credits are available at Pro plan rates if you need them.
